Astra Velum added to Lishui Photography Museum Permanent Collection
In 2013, I was invited to go to Lishui, China, with an amazing group of photographers. We participated in the Lishui Photography Festival, a city-wide extravaganza of all-things photography. I was showing my Astra Velum series, which I'd carefully packed and carried with me all the way to China. It was amazing week, and we had a wonderful time together.
On the final day of the festival, our curator Yan Li informed me that I'd been awarded a grand prize for my series; I was stunned. It was such an honor.
I've since had 3 other shows in Lishui: 2 at the Festival, and one at their museum (the Skeleton in the Closet series).
This past year, they asked if they could include my work into the museum's permanent collection, to which I agreed, and it is currently featured in the show, pictured here.
You never know where following your passions will lead you. These memories I've made in China are some of the coolest (and most unexpected) of my journey as an artist.
