No Words for the Shiver

Through movement, this film explores the physical and emotional landscape of living with chronic illness. Choreographed and performed by dancer Celia, whose life and career have been profoundly shaped by multiple debilitating conditions; and filmed by Fritz, who spent a dozen years debilitated by Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, the work gives form to experiences that are often invisible: pain, exhaustion, isolation, frustration, vulnerability, and the ongoing effort to endure. Dance becomes both a language for what is difficult to articulate and an act of resistance—a way of remaining connected to the body even when that relationship is fraught and uncertain. Created collaboratively, the film reflects our shared experience of illness while seeking to make its hidden realities visible.
