Calling Young Ukrainian Artists in Czechia:
Share Your Voice Through Portraits
Are you a Ukrainian teen artist living in Czechia?
We are creating a special photography project to highlight the voices, creativity, and resilience of young people who have been displaced by the war. If you are an artist—whether you dance, paint, draw, write, sing, photograph, do gymnastics, design fashion, or express yourself in another creative way—we would love to meet you and tell your story through powerful portrait photography. Anyone between the ages of 14-21 are welcome; all genders/sizes/abilities are welcome.
This is not just about photos. It’s about being seen and heard. Your story matters.
A professional photographer (Fritz Liedtke) is offering free photo shoots with Ukrainian youth who want to share a piece of their journey. We will also collect some brief writing from you about your experiences. These portraits and stories will be shared in magazines, media, and exhibitions to raise awareness and compassion for what young Ukrainians are experiencing. We want the world to know your story, and to remember and stand with Ukraine.
Fritz is working with a team of Ukrainian and Czech volunteers to create this beautiful opportunity to share your story. Participation is free, and you can choose how much of your story you want to share.
The Process:
We will work with you to schedule a convenient time for your photo shoot. Shoots will happen at locations in Prague, and possibly Brno and Olomouc.
We will send you some questions to answer, to help us get to know you and your story. This will help us plan a photograph that is unique to you.
We will send you details on how to prepare, what to bring, and where to come. (Don’t worry, it’s not complicated!)
You are welcome to bring a friend or chaperone. (And if you have friends who would like to participate, please invite them! We can photograph you at the same session.)
On the day of your shoot, you will meet us at the photo shoot location. The photographer and his assistant(s) (who will be Ukrainian or Czech) will look over any clothing or props you’ve brought, and make a plan for your photo. We will try to illustrate something about you and your story/experience/art into the portrait. Each portrait session will last between 30 minutes to 1 hour.
Fritz has 30 years of experience with portraiture, and will help you feel comfortable, safe, and have fun. Together, you will create a powerful photograph together!
Afterward, Fritz will edit the photos, and share finished images with you. He and his team will also be working with media outlets to share the photographs and stories with the world!
What you’ll receive:
A professional creative photo shoot in Prague in September.
Digital copies of the final, edited photos for you to keep and share.
Updates on the publication of portraits and stories from this project in the media, and invitations to any local exhibitions or events.
